The New York Yankees hosted the Toronto Blue Jays in a very important weekend series, and things didn’t go well for the Bronx Bombers.

Coming into the series, many thought that it would be one great offense against another, but it was pretty much the polar opposite. Pitching dominated the series, as five out of the six starting pitchers for both teams did very well.

The Blue Jays came into the series wanting to make a statement, and they did just that. Their deadly offense did well, but it was their pitching and bullpen that really carried them to the sweep.

After being swept, the Yankees now only hold a 1.5 game lead in the AL East, as the people who weren’t about the Blue Jays are now fully aware that they are a threat.

Final Scores:

Friday: Blue Jays 2, Yankees 1

Saturday Blue Jays 6, Yankees 0

Sunday Blue Jays 2, Yankees 0

Here are five takeaways from the Blue Jays’ sweep of the Yankees.
