– Tulowitzki welcomes himself to the Bronx
There has always been speculation of Tulowitzki’s interest in playing shortstop for the Yankees after Derek Jeter retired. It never appeared that Tulowitzki has ever been close to playing shortstop for the Yankees, but he will now be able to play shortstop in Yankee Stadium.
The Blue Jays shocked baseball when the pulled off a blockbuster trade which sent Jose Reyes and prospects to the Colorado Rockies for Tulowitzki.
In Colorado, Tulowitzki was batting .300 with 12 homeruns, and 53 RBI. Since joining the Blue Jays, Tulowitzki has continued to hit well, as he is batting .303 with two homeruns and 5 RBI. Tulowitzki has been mostly a middle of the order hitter in Colorado, but in Toronto, he has been batting leadoff.
Tulowitzki hasn’t played many important games in recent years in Colorado, but he will be looking to set the tone all weekend for the Blue Jays.
