– Eovaldi gets a reality check
One of the biggest surprises of the season for the Yankees is that Nathan Eovaldi leads the team with 11 wins. Despite having 11 wins, Eovaldi has an ERA of 4.30 and a WHIP of 1.49. Allowing nearly a base-runner and a half per inning as Eovaldi’s WHIP indicates will usually catch up to a pitcher.
In Eovaldi’s last five starts, he has only pitched more than six innings once, which was against the Minnesota Twins on the road. The amount of base-runners that Eovaldi is allowing is going to catch up with him, and the Blue Jays’ offense will likely capitalize on it.
The Blue Jays offense is clicking on the cylinders right now, and this could mean a short night for Eovaldi.
It will likely be another short start for Eovaldi on Friday night with the way the Blue Jays have been playing, expect to see a quick hook from Joe Girardi if Eovaldi runs into trouble.
