The New York Yankees will be hosting a huge weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium.
The Blue Jays have begun to gain ground on the Yankees in the AL East, as they will enter the series in the Bronx trailing by 4.5 games. The Blue Jays are riding a six-game winning streak, as the moves to acquire Troy Tulowitzki and David Price have been paying dividends early. This is an even more important series for the Blue Jays than the Yankees, as they want to prove they are legit threats in the AL East.
While the Blue Jays are gaining ground in the division, it’s not because the Yankees are playing poor baseball. The Bronx Bombers were recently able to win a series against the rival Boston Red Sox, and they have won six of their last 10 games. The Yankees have defended their home stadium well this season, as they are 32-18 at home, but this weekend will be a major test.
Projected Starting Pitchers:
Friday: R.A. Dickey (6-10, 4.06) vs. Nathan Eovaldi (11-2, 4.30)
Saturday: David Price (10-4, 2.45) vs. Ivan Nova (4-3, 3.10)
Sunday: Marco Estrada (9-6, 3.40) vs. Masahiro Tanaka (8-4, 3.84)
It is likely going to be a very high-scoring series this weekend in the Bronx, as both teams have fantastic lineups. This will be the most important series so far this season for both teams, as there could be a huge momentum shift in the AL East depending on the outcome.
Here are five predictions for the weekend series in the Bronx.
