3.) John Olerud

One of the best Mets of the late 1990s was John Olerud.

Olerud got his start with the Toronto Blue Jays, and was a big part of them winning two World Series in 1992 and 1993. In 1993, Olerud made one of his two All-Star teams, as he batted a ridiculous .363 with 24 homeruns and 107 RBI.

After the 1996 season, Olerud was traded to the Mets for Robert Person, and was a very good player for the Mets.

In three seasons with the Mets, Olerud batted .315 with 63 homeruns and 291 RBI. The Mets would have loved to have had Olerud around for longer than three seasons, but as a free agent, he signed with the Seattle Mariners.

Olerud was a great hitter and fielder for the Mets, as he finished with a .295 batting average, 255 homeruns, and 1,230 RBI. after leaving the Mets, Olerud went on to have a good remainder of his career, which was mostly in Seattle.
