4.) Carlos Delgado

Carlos Delgado may have joined the Mets at the end of his career, but the All-Star first baseman still had some good play left in the tank when he got to New York.

Delgado is best-known for his time on the Toronto Blue Jays, as he was a two-time All-Star in 12 seasons. In his time with Toronto, Delgado batted .282 with 336 homeruns and 1,058 RBI.

In 2005, Delgado would sign with the Florida Marlins, but would just play one season in Florida before he was traded to the Mets. In his first season with the Mets, Delgado had one of the best power seasons in Mets history, as he batted .265 with 38 homeruns and 114 RBI.

His second season with the Mets would be a disappointment for Delgado’s standards, as he batted .258 with 24 homeruns and 87 RBI. After the disappointing 2007 season, Delgado bounced back in 2008 with a good season. In 2008, Delgado batted .271 with 38 homeruns and 115 RBI.

A hip injury to Delgado would end his career early, but in his first three seasons with the Mets he had 100 homeruns. The Mets would have certainly liked to get Delgado earlier in his career, but he gave the Mets three of the most productive seasons ever for them at first base.
