New York Mets: Twitter Reaction to Carlos Gomez saga

The New York Mets reportedly agreed to a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers to acquire their outfielder Carlos Gomez, but things didn’t turn out as they appeared.

Pretty much every media outlet had the deal being agreed upon between the Mets and the Brewers that was sending Zack Wheeler and Wilmer Flores to Milwaukee for Gomez. Flores was playing in the field throughout this ordeal, and eventually the news broke to him. Flores still remained in the game obviously upset thinking that he was about to be traded. The Mets would pinch-hit for Flores late in the game, which led to everyone assuming his days as a Met had come to an end. Instead, things became extremely odd regarding the trade between the two teams.

After the game, Mets’ general manager, Sandy Alderson, said that there is no deal between the Mets and the Brewers despite all of the media reports.

It was a strange turn of events, but it led to some fun on Twitter. Here is the reaction from fans and the media to the no-deal saga.

It was later found out that it was the Mets who backed out of the deal due to health concerns about Gomez, who according to his agent Scott Boras, isn’t hurt.

It continues to get even more strange as the night goes on.
