The New York Mets reportedly agreed to a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers to acquire their outfielder Carlos Gomez, but things didn’t turn out as they appeared.
#Mets have gotten Carlos Gomez Post has learned
— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) July 30, 2015
Pretty much every media outlet had the deal being agreed upon between the Mets and the Brewers that was sending Zack Wheeler and Wilmer Flores to Milwaukee for Gomez. Flores was playing in the field throughout this ordeal, and eventually the news broke to him. Flores still remained in the game obviously upset thinking that he was about to be traded. The Mets would pinch-hit for Flores late in the game, which led to everyone assuming his days as a Met had come to an end. Instead, things became extremely odd regarding the trade between the two teams.

After the game, Mets’ general manager, Sandy Alderson, said that there is no deal between the Mets and the Brewers despite all of the media reports.
Was told players agreed upon in #Mets deal with #Brewers. Gomez for Wilmer/Wheeler. Alderson says now no deal.

It was a strange turn of events, but it led to some fun on Twitter. Here is the reaction from fans and the media to the no-deal saga.
Wilmer Flores, who did everything these guys asked him to do, deserves better.

Never seen anything like this. #Mets SS Wilmer Flores is shown on TV, on the field, crying during play at being traded. Yet still playing.

#Mets fans should give Wilmer Flores a standing ovation tomorrow.

It was later found out that it was the Mets who backed out of the deal due to health concerns about Gomez, who according to his agent Scott Boras, isn’t hurt.
Sources: #Mets backed out of trade due to concern over hip issue with #Brewers’ Gomez.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) July 30, 2015
Agent Scott Boras says Gomez is “injury-free. He’s playing every day. I have our players examined rigorously. He has no problem whatsoever.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) July 30, 2015
Boras: "There is nothing at issue with Carlos Gomez's health. He is playing every day. That is the proof of his health. He is fine."
— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) July 30, 2015
Boras: "He will be in the lineup of the Milwaukee Brewers tomorrow. That is the evidence you can have (that Gomez is healthy)."

It continues to get even more strange as the night goes on.
