With the trade deadline approaching, the New York Mets have been linked to numerous position players such as Carlos Gomez, Justin Upton and Jay Bruce to bolster their lineup. They have already added complimentary pieces in Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson to help give Terry Collins more options, but they are still missing the big bat that creates fear in opposing pitchers.

Last night, we saw the Blue Jays shock the baseball world by acquiring Troy Tulowitzki and LaTroy Hawkins for Jose Reyes and pitching prospects. Immediately after, rumors swirled of the Rockies flipping Reyes for more prospects. Of course, the Mets have a need at shortstop, and they were one of the teams speculated to bring Reyes back to Queens.

The Mets have since said they have no interest in bringing Reyes back due to his age and price tag. But there are big pieces out there that can shake the baseball world at a similar magnitude to the Tulowitzki trade. Here are some of my favorite blockbuster trades for the Mets.
