Severino is the top prospect the Yankees have in their system, and has showcased why with his performance this season. The 21-year old has skyrocketed up the Yankees farm system, as he was in rookie ball as recently as 2012. He moved up a level each year since, and now finds himself in Triple-A where he is pitching as well as he has during his minor league career.

This season Severino is 7-2 with a 2.45 ERA and 1.02 WHIP, striking out 84 batters in 88 ⅓ innings between Double-A and Triple-A. His numbers in Triple-A are off the charts though. In nine starts with Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Severino is 5-0 with a 1.79 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. His strikeout numbers have decreased though, as he has only 36 in 50 ⅓ innings of work. That drop in strikeout rate is acceptable though with how sterling his other stats are.

There are rumblings that Severino could be called up to the Yankees at some point this season as an arm in the bullpen. His future is in the starting rotation, but he could certainly help out during the stretch run as an extra bullpen arm, an area the Yankees could use some help in during the middle innings. But, if the right trade package comes along, Severino could be on the move.

Like Judge, Severino is as close to an untouchable player as the Yankees have. He is the highest rated pitcher in their system, and overall like mentioned before. For the Yankees to move him, it will have to be for a top line player, they will not give him away for nothing.

If Severino is traded, it will more than likely be in a package with Judge for a player such as Cueto or Cole Hamels. He is the best trade asset the Yankees have, so if they are going to play that chip it will be in a move that they think will get them over the top this season. Otherwise, the Yankees will probably use him for their own good, and bring him up to help in the bullpen at some point after the deadline.
