Judge is the Yankees top hitting prospect, and rightfully so. He has quickly shot up the Yankees prospect rankings and minor league systems, starting out at Single-A last season and already being up to Triple-A currently.
He is a mountain of a man, standing and intimidating 6-feet-7 inches tall and weighing 275 pounds, which is essentially the same size as an NFL defensive lineman. While he is at the plate, he makes sure to use all of it as well. This season he has launched 14 home runs and is slugging .485. He doesn’t hit for only power, as he also carries a .282 batting average and .352 on-base percentage this season.
In addition to his prowess at the plate, Judge is a more than capable fielder. His 2.50 range factor this season in the minor leagues is above the 2.15 in the outfield and 2.04 for right fielders. He may not steal bases, but he is athletic enough to run the bases well. He is a multi-tool player, as his can hit for average, power and is an above average fielder.
If the Yankees are to make a big splash, such as for a player the caliber of Johnny Cueto, Judge will almost certainly be included as the Reds will be looking to add top prospects and players that are near MLB ready if they aren’t already.
Judge will only be moved in a package for a front end starter or big time bat in the lineup if the Yankees decide to pursue one. He isn’t a an untouchable player, as the Yankees don’t have any prospects of that caliber in their system, but Judge is as close as they come to being untouchable for the Yankees.
