He may be overshadowed by Harvey, but Mets’ starter Jacob deGrom has quickly become one of the best pitchers in baseball. After winning the Rookie of the Year award last season, deGrom has followed it up with a great first half of the 2015 season.

In 2015, deGrom has totaled a 9-6 record with a 2.14 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. For the first half of the 2015 season, deGrom has been the ace of the Mets’ pitching rotation, and he was named to his first All-Star team this season.

deGrom may have come out of nowhere in the Mets’ organization, but he very well may be the best player on the team now. If the Mets are going to make the playoffs in 2015, deGrom will big a big part of their success.

The Mets’ pitching has been the best part of their team in 2015, and with deGrom leading that unit, he has been their best player in the first half of 2015.
