Jeurys Familia

Coming into the 2015 season, Jeurys Familia was the Mets’ setup man, but a suspension to Jenrry Mejia made Familia the Mets’ new closer. The move from setup man to closer sometimes doesn’t go all that well, but for Familia the transition was easy.

In the first half, Familia has totaled two wins, and 27 saves in 29 chances, as he has become the anchor in the Mets’ bullpen. Familia also has a very impressive 1.25 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. Familia was part of the final vote to be an NL All-Star, but was unable to get the necessary votes to join the NL All-Stars.

Mejia has recently come back from his 80-game suspension, but Familia has made the closers role his own with a great start to the season. With not a lot of run support in the first half, the dominance of Familia in the back end of the bullpen has been huge.
