The biggest flaw for the Mets this season has been their lack of hitting in the first half of the season. Most of those issues have been because of injuries to David Wright and Travis d’Arnaud, but they have also had players under perform.
Lucas Duda and Michael Cuddyer have been unable to give the Mets’ lineup what they need in the middle of the order, and that has led to their offense being atrocious at times.
Even though he missed some time with an injury as well, Daniel Murphy has been on the field producing for most of the first half of the season. In 2015, Murphy is hitting .277 with five homeruns, 30 RBIs, and 16 doubles.
With Wright being out, Murphy has moved over to third base, and has played better there defensively than he has played at second base. Murphy doesn’t get much love in New York, but he has been there most consistent hitter this season.
