The first of the Mets’ top pitching prospects to come up this season was their hard throwing right-hander Noah Syndergaard. For a few years there has been a lot of hype surrounding Syndergaard, and so far in the majors he hasn’t disappointed.
Syndergaard has made just 11 starts this season, but he has had a positive impact with 4-4 record, 3.11 ERA, and 72 strikeouts in 66.2 innings. The sample size hasn’t been huge for Syndergaard, but he has certainly been a good player for the Mets in the first half of the season.
As the Mets bats have struggled this season, their pitchers have been the ones to try and help pick up the slack, and that has included Syndergaard. In addition to his solid pitching in the first half of the season, Syndergaard also has totaled a .238 batting average with a homerun.
Syndergaard will be a big part of the Mets in the second half of the season, as he will look to build upon his already strong rookie season.
