The New York Yankees are heading into the All-Star break riding high after a series win against the Boston Red Sox to cap off a great first half of the season.
There were plenty of question marks for the Yankees heading into the season, and despite some injuries to key players, the Yankees are playing very good baseball. New York is currently 48-40 and sitting atop the tight AL East, which has turned out to be one of the more intriguing divisions in baseball.
With the AL East being so close, the trade deadline will be a very important time for the Yankees, as they may look to make a big splash to be a World Series contender.
The first half was full of surprises for the Yankees, as they got big performances from a few players that had injury issues. Like most teams, the injury bug did hit the Yankees, but they have been able to overcome being short-handed at times. In the second half of the season, the Yankees look to be rather healthy and that may lead to a big second half in the Bronx.
With the All-Star break upon us, here are the 5 best Yankees of the first half of the season.
