15. San Francisco Giants (42-41) The Giants have fallen on some tough times this week, as they are currently on an MLB worst six-game losing streak, getting swept by the Marlins and Nationals. They had some tough breaks, as they were in every game and Madison Bumgarner had a clunker thrown in as well. They will get a homestand with the road weary Mets and lowly Phillies to finish their first half and potentially end of a good note. It would be a good sign heading into the All-Star break, as they now find themselves four games behind the NL West leading Dodgers and 3.5 out of the Wild Card race.
14. New York Mets (42-41) The Mets’ struggles against the Cubs continued, as they were swept for the second time this season by them, losing the season series 0-7. But, they were able to take a weekend series on the road against the Dodgers, a huge surprise to many with how they had been playing and their road woes. The Mets pitching staff came up huge once again keeping the Mets in every game. Noah Syndergaard and Steve Matz both pitched extremely well, as Matz also added another RBI at the plate.
13. Tampa Bay Rays (43-41) The Rays are struggling. They have lost eight of their last 10 games, and have lost three consecutive series against AL East foes with the series loss against the Yankees over the weekend. They could have actually swept the Yankees had their bullpen not crumbled the first two games of the series. A sweep in the four-game series by the Indians to start the week leaves the Rays with a sour taste in their month as well. Things won’t get easier as they will travel to take on the Royals before hosting the Astros to finish their first half before the All-Star break.
