21. Cleveland Indians (39-45) The Indians were able to sweep the Rays in a four-game series to start the week, but then ran into the red-hot Pirates over the weekend, losing two of three. Cody Anderson continues to twirl gems for the Indians, throwing another eight innings while allowing only one run, this time against a team other than the Rays. Unfortunately, he received the loss in the game as the Indians offense was nonexistent. Will they be able to get things going at home though to end the first half? They will finish with a seven-game homestand heading into the All-Star game, but have only a 15-23 record at Progressive Field.

20. Boston Red Sox (39-45) The Red Sox are beginning to show some life, as they have won seven of their last 10 games are creeping back into the AL East race. No other team is running away with it, so if the Red Sox pitching staff can stabilize at all the offense should keep them in the running as they are only six games behind right now. Clay Buchholz has looked like an ace recently, giving up one or none earned runs in four straight starts. Hanley Ramirez also has found his power stroke recently, launching three home runs this past week. Don’t sleep on the Sox.

19. Atlanta Braves (40-42) The Braves were able to take series from their NL East foes Nationals and Phillies to climb closer to the .500 mark again. They had success this week in mostly because of their pitching staff. Matt Wisler delivered another strong outing to start his MLB career with, while Julio Teheran was strong against the Phillies as well. Rookie Manny Banuelos, the former top Yankees prospect, made his debut and fired a gem against the Nationals, throwing 5 ⅔ shutout innings with seven strikeouts before being forced from the game with cramps. This Braves pitching staff is loaded with young arms and potential.
