27. Oakland Athletics (26-39) The Athletics took a series from the Twins before falling to the Angels over the weekend. Things just do not look like they will turn around for the Athletics, as they have the look of sellers at the deadline. They have a number of players potentially available, as Ben Zobrist has had his name in rumor mills, while other veterans such as Stephen Vogt and Josh Reddick could be had for the right price. One player who will be going nowhere is Sonny Gray, who fired yet another gem Sunday, pushing his record to 8-3 on the year with an ERA of 1.60 as he has placed himself in the Cy Young running despite the Athletics poor season.

26. Miami Marlins (27-37) The Marlins got swept by the red-hot Blue Jays to start the week, but recovered nicely to take three of four from the Rockies. They had some bright spots in what was a losing week though, as Giancarlo Stanton has put to rest any doubts that he wouldn’t recover from his scary incident last season. He added to his with a monster week, slamming five home runs to go with 12 RBI in what was an extremely productive week. Mat Latos also returned from the DL with a bang, throwing seven strong innings, allowing one run and striking out 11. That was the Mat Latos the Marlins thought they were getting from the Reds this offseason.

25. Chicago White Sox (28-33) The White Sox were able to sweep the Astros to start the week on a high note, but finished it on a low one by getting swept by the Rays. The offense blew it Sunday, as Chris Sale delivered his fifth consecutive start of double-digit strikeouts and fourth consecutive giving up two earned runs or less yet they still lost. This offense has to figure out a way to get things going, as they have scored the third least amount of runs in baseball this season, placing them squarely in the race for most disappointing team of the season to this point.
