3. Pittsburgh Pirates (35-27) The Pirates are at the highest spot in the MLB Power Rankings this season as they are finally turning things on. Their offense fell short this past week, yet they still went 4-2 as the pitching staff was up for the challenge. Antonio Bastardo won two extra inning games out of the bullpen, as their staff is dealing right now. Charlie Morton is also riding a four-game winning streak, winning every start he has made since coming off the DL. That is the longest such streak to start a season for Morton in his career, making the Pirates look good for putting him in the rotation over others.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers (37-26) It was a successful week for the Dodgers, who came within one run of sweeping both the Diamondbacks and Padres. It was a nice bounceback after a disappointing series against the Cardinals last weekend. Andre Ethier continues to produce, essentially out of nowhere, as he was a candidate to be traded as he wasn’t happy with his situation at the onset of the season. Things have changed, as he has become a valuable member of the team, earning playing time when Yasiel Puig and Carl Crawford went down to injury. Even with Puig back now, Either still finds himself in the lineup in almost a nightly basis.

1. St. Louis Cardinals (41-21) The Cardinals just keep chugging along no matter the obstacles put in their way. Adam Wainwright was announced out for the season, the Cardinals just plug one of their young fireballers into the rotation. Now they will have another injury to overcome, as Matt Holliday was placed on the DL with a partially torn quad muscle. He will be sidelined beyond the 15 days, as he will not be reevaluated for another two weeks. Will they be able to overcome this injury, as Matt Adams was already on the DL and starter Lance Lynn was placed on there as well?
