15. Texas Rangers (26-25) The Rangers are absolutely rolling right now. They won both their series last week, defeating the Indians and Red Sox with relative ease. Prince Fielder looks like Prince Fielder of old, as he leads the AL in batting average at .359, adding 10 home runs and 38 RBI to place himself right in the early MVP talk. Josh Hamilton has also been racking since getting inserted into the lineup, not disrupting the team at all. The Rangers have also figured things out at the backend of the bullpen, where Shawn Tolleson has converted all six of his save chances and ran away with the closer role.

14. Tampa Bay Rays (26-25) The Rays were unable to really take advantage of the Yankees shortcomings, having some of their own. They were swept by the Mariners, and their losing streak reached six games before taking the last two games of the series against the Orioles over the weekend. That was a strong start to their road trip, which will continue this week out west against the Mariners and Angels. Their offense needs to begin picking up though, as the pitching staff needs some run support.

13. New York Yankees (26-25) A sweep of the Royals was slightly diminished with a poor weekend against the Athletics, where they lost three of four games. The Yankees offense has struggled without Jacoby Ellsbury, as their pitching has been what has won them games recently. Slade Heathcott has done his best replacing Ellsbury though, hitting .353 thus far, but will also now be finding himself on the DL with a quad issue. Some encouraging news though is that Masahiro Tanaka will be returning to the rotation this week when the Yankees visit the Mariners.
