3. Houston Astros (18-7) The hottest team by far in the majors, as they are riding a 10-game winning streak. They are clicking on all cylinders, as they either get dominant pitching performances or huge offensive outbursts to pick up their pitchers on a night they don’t have their A game. Dallas Keuchel and Collin McHugh look like legitimate front end starters, combining on a 7-0 record thus far with 0.73 and 3.41 ERAs respectively. Jose Altuve continues to absolutely rake at the plate, even though his 11-game hitting streak was snapped Sunday. That stretch also included nine consecutive multi-hit games.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers (16-8) It was another week at the office for the Dodgers, who defeated their rival Giants to start the week and swept the Diamondbacks over the weekend. The only loss came up a pitcher’s duel, as Madison Bumgarner outdueled Clayton Kershaw, otherwise they rolled. The Dodgers haven’t missed a beat even with Yasiel Puig on the DL, as Andre Ethier has stepped right in and produced. Could this be the time they are finally able to unload their disgruntled outfielder once Puig returns from the DL?

1. St. Louis Cardinals (18-6) The new king of the Empire Writes Back MLB Power Rankings are none other than the Cardinals. They have won six straight games, showing off their ability to win in any situation. Against the Phillies earlier in the week they used a high-powered offense to win easily, they needed timely offense and strong pitching to defeat the Pirates in a weekend sweep of extra inning games. Five players are currently hitting over .290 as the Cardinals are rolling.
