In the NFL Draft last season, the Giants were thought to be taking an offensive lineman, but instead drafted wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Just a year later, it’s obvious that the Giants made the right pick, but they still need to address the offensive line.
The best offensive lineman in this draft is Iowa’s Brandon Scherff. There have been NFL mock drafts that have the Jets taking Scherff, but the Giants makes a lot more sense. Scherff is likely to be moved to guard in the NFL, and while that is a reach in the Top-10, it’s a risk the Giants may need to take.
If the Giants can give Eli Manning time in the pocket, he is going to be able to pick apart defenses with the talented weapons around him. Scherff will be the upgrade for the Giants’ offensive line that they will need to make the next step in 2015.
The St Louis Rams made one of the most shocking trades in the offseason, as they swapped quarterbacks with the Philadelphia Eagles. New quarterback Nick Foles could certainly use another weapon on offense, and that will lead to the Rams taking a wide receiver.
DeVante Parker from Louisville should be the Rams’ pick in the first-round. Parker played four very good seasons at Louisville, but had his senior season cut short. In 2014, Parker totaled 43 receptions, 885 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns.
Parker will bring good size and speed to the Rams’ wide receiver corps that can use some upgrading. Parker was a great red zone threat for the Cardinals, as in his four seasons, he totaled 33 receiving touchdowns.
Foles’ transition to the Rams will go a lot smoother if the Rams select Parker to help him regain his 2013 form.
