With the seventh pick in the draft, the Bears will be selecting the best player available in what will be the steal of the draft. Leonard Williams from USC is arguably the best player in the draft, and is probably the safest pick.
The Bears’ defense has been awful for the last few seasons, and new head coach John Fox will be looking to improve it. In his three seasons at USC, Williams totaled 21 sacks, 36.5 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, and two interceptions.
Williams is easily the best defensive lineman in the draft, and for the Bears he will be a vast improvement at the position. Williams is the total package when it comes to stopping the run, and also getting to the quarterback. Williams could go in the Top-3, but I think Williams will fall a bit due to teams in front of the Bears not having a desperate need.
A recent development before the NFL Draft was the running back Todd Gurley has been medically cleared after tearing his ACL. Before he was cleared, Gurley was projecting to go in the later part of the first-round.
Now that it seems Gurley is healthy, he will be a much higher selection.
The Atlanta Falcons have a great quarterback with Matt Ryan and a great wide receiver in Julio Jones, but their running game has been lacking. Gurley is an every-down back, and would be a great pick by the Falcons.
In just six games in 2014, Gurley totaled 911 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, and a great 7.4 yards per carry average. Being healthy makes Gurley one of the best players available in the draft, and the Falcons will jump on the running back.
