This is the game all fans will have circled on their calendars, as the Giants and Jets will be rekindling their rivalry for real this season in addition to their annual meeting in the preseason. This is a rivalry that the Giants have dominated recently, not losing to Gang Green since 1993. This is a game, according to ESPN New York’s Dan Graziano, that the owners care about the outcome as much as they do against bitter rivals like the Cowboys, Eagles and Redskins.

With where this game is on the schedule, the Giants could very well be fighting for their playoff lives. The last time these two teams faced off the scenario was very similar, and the Giants delivered a much needed win that was punctuated by a 99-yard touchdown catch and run by Victor Cruz.

Antonio Cromartie is still looking for his jockstrap, and maybe he will find it now that he has returned, along with Darrelle Revis, to the Jets’ defensive backfield. That play not only turned the tide of that game, as the Giants were losing 7-3 at the time and went on to win 29-14, but also catapulted them on their postseason run.

Could this be another game that the Giants use as a springboard at the end of the season to begin a late season run? Hopefully Cruz is healthy enough to potentially provide a highlight, but if he is not, I’m sure Odell Beckham Jr. may have something up his sleeve for his first taste of the color rivalry.
