While he didn’t play in the series finale Sunday afternoon, as manager Terry Collins wasn’t to keep him fresh for the season, outfielder Michael Cuddyer was on fire during the series.

The 36-year old Cuddyer is riding a seven-game hitting streak, and the hot streak continued against the Marlins. Cuddyer went 2-4 every game against the Marlins, scoring a run in each game and adding three RBI.

Cuddyer has raised his batting average over 100 points since beginning the hitting streak, going from .200 to his current number of .333.

The Mets have to be extremely happy with what he is giving the team currently, as Cuddyer is providing exactly what the Mets had been hoping for when they signed him. He gives them some balance in the middle of their lineup, driving in runs when given the chance and setting the table for the players behind him.
