The New York Rangers set two franchise records this season with 53 wins and 113 points on their way to winning the President’s trophy for the first-time since 1993-94 season. The last time the Rangers won the President’s trophy was the last time they won the Stanley Cup. This year could very well be history repeating itself, as if the Rangers are going to lose in the playoffs it won’t be in the first-round to the Penguins.

Coming into the playoffs the Penguins have been one of the coldest teams in hockey, while the Rangers have been red hot with or without Lundqvist. With the home-ice in their pocket, the Rangers will handle business in the first-round of the playoffs rather quickly by beating the Penguins in five games.

The expectations for the Rangers are Stanley Cup or bust this season, and with an experienced roster from last season that knows what it takes to reach the finals, they will avoid any sort of letdown to the struggling Penguins.
