Hot Start Continues

Through the first week of the season, catcher Travis d’Arnaud was the hottest hitter in the Mets lineup, seemingly the only that could get anything going. He didn’t slow down against the Phillies, as he continued the hot start right throughout the whole series.

In the three games, d’Arnaud went 4-12, including a double and home run. He also scored two runs to go with three RBI, getting his first walk of the season as well. He is now sporting a .333/.364/.533 slash line. What may be the most impressive is that he produced no matter where the Mets put him in the lineup, as he batted second tonight in place of Wright and got on base three times.

The only player that d’Arnaud trails in most of the offensive stats is first baseman Lucas Duda. Duda has become a legitimate power bat in the middle of the Mets lineup and the Phillies learned that first hand. He already has five multi-hit games on the season, and against the Phillies he was constantly pounding the baseball.

In the three game series, Duda went 4-13 with two runs and five RBI. Of those four hits, three went for extra bases, as Duda laced two doubles and his first home run of the season.

Also, as mentioned earlier, Granderson continues to get on base at an impressive clip. He finally got some hits in the series against the Phillies the last two games of the series, and got on base a total of seven times in three games.
