The New York Mets were able to pull off a sweep in the first series of 2015 at Citi Field, defeating their NL East rival Philadelphia Phillies three times. It was a weird series at time, as the umpiring was suspect, there were multiple hit batters and manager ejections. It was basically everything you would expect from a series that two rivals are matching up together. Here were the results of the pitching matchups from the three-game series:

Game 1: Mets: 2 Phillies: 0
W: Jacob deGrom (1-1) L: Aaron Harang (1-1) S: Jeurys Familia (2)

Game 2: Mets: 6 Phillies : 5
W: Matt Harvey (2-0) L: David Buchanan (0-2) S: Jeurys Familia (3)

Game 3: Mets: 6 Phillies: 1
W: Jon Niese (1-0) L: Jerome Williams (0-1)

This was an encouraging series for the Mets, as they were faced with some adversity yet overcame a seemingly inferior opponent. These are the types of performances the Mets will need, especially at home, if they truly want to contend for a playoff spot in the NL. The Mets have not had a winning record at home since 2010, but they have gotten off to a great start in 2015 to end that drought.

But even in a series where there were so many positives, the Mets still had some negative things happen to them to put a little damper on the first home series of the season.

At the end of the day though, the Mets came away with three wins and no losses, improving their record to 6-3 on the season and moving into a first place tie in the early going of the NL East with the Atlanta Braves.

With that, here are some takeaways from the Mets series victory over the Phillies.
