The season series has been very close between the Islanders and Capitals this season, as they each won two games. In the Nassau Coliseum, the Islanders won each game in overtime, and the Capitals won their two games at home, one in regulation, and the other in a shootout.

What may come back to really hurt the Islanders was their loss to the Blue Jackets in the final game of the season. Despite having a two-goal lead at one point, and another lead late in the third period, the Islanders lost. Not getting the two points against the Blue Jackets cost the Islanders home-ice, and with how close the season-series has been against the Capitals, that could be the difference.

The Islanders aren’t going to down without a fight in this series, but the Capitals are going to defeat them when it’s all said and done. A seven-game series does mean that there will be three electric games in the Nassau Coliseum in its final season.
