No surprises here, as the Mets are loaded at starting pitcher. With Wheeler out for the season, the Mets re-inserted Gee into the starting lineup after having him slated to be the long reliever in the bullpen.

If the Mets are going to make a trade during the season, there is probaby the group it will come from. Gee has been on the trading block since last season ended, and even with the injury to Wheeler, he could still be moved. The Mets have also tried trading Colon, who is in the final year of his contract and could be had for the right price.

Waiting in the wings is Rafael Montero, Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz. Montero has already made the 25-man roster, and will be the first person in line more than likely if any of the aforementioned five starters struggle or become injured. Matz and Syndergaard give the Mets plenty of depth if they do decide to make a move. It is a luxury having that kind of MLB-ready talent ready to roll and something the Mets have to maximize.
