Michael Pineda

Drafting Michael Pineda with either pay dividends in fantasy baseball, or clog up a DL spot for the season. When on the mound, Pineda has proved that he can be a very good pitcher, but more often than not he is on the DL.

Last season, Pineda only started in 13 games, but his stats in those games were extremely impressive. Pineda posted a 5-5 record, with a 1.89 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts. Having an ERA under two is ridiculous in any sampling, and will draw interest in drafts.

If he is available in the later-rounds of fantasy baseball drafts, the risk to take Pineda is almost a necessary one, as it’s hard to find pitchers that can put up stretches like Pineda has shown he can do. If by some chance Pineda stays healthy for an entire season, he could very well help win a championship.
