Much of the Islanders’ success this season has been because of captain John Tavares, who is having a career-year. Tavares is a MVP candidate, as the injury to Okposo did help Tavares’ case for being the MVP on a good Islanders team, as he had to take on a larger role.

This season, Tavares has 72 points with 39 assists and 33 goals. Tavares has done an excellent job of making his line-mates better this season, and that should be no different against the Devils.

In three games against the Devils this season, Tavares has two goals and two assists, and on Saturday night in a game the Islanders need to win, Tavares will have a multi-point game to help lead his team.
