St. John’s will overcome the loss of their defensive backbone and knock off San Diego State. The game is a David vs. Goliath matchup not in terms of seeding, but actual size on the court as San Diego State starts four plays that are at least 6-feet-6 inches tall, while St. John’s at most will have two people that size starting depending on who enters the lineup for Obekpa.

That will work out well for St. John’s more than it will hurt them, as they will have a guy that can score the basketball at every position on the court. They are also senior laden with something to prove, with no selfish players among them. That senior experience will be what pushes St. John’s past San Diego State into the third round.

That also will motivate the Red Storm, as they will get a rematch with the Duke Blue Devils if they are to defeat the Aztecs. It will be a hard-fought game as the Red Storm will more than likely be relying on only five players for a majority of their production, but there aren’t many more five man groupings that would be prepared to carry a team as the five St. John’s will be using.
