Shane Vereen

Fresh off his Super Bowl victory with the New England Patriots, Vereen will be hitting the free agent market. He could be priced out of the Giants range, supposedly asking for $5 million annually, but if that price comes down he is someone that would fit perfectly into the Giants offense.

What the Giants’ offense is lacking right now is exactly what Vereen would bring to the table; a scatback the Giants can throw out in space and use in passing situations. He has been the receiving back for the Patriots for multiple seasons now, so the Giants would be comfortable using him in the same situations here.

Vereen has only 324 touches in his four year career, so he has plenty of tread left on the tire. The Giants are in need of a player that will fit into a specific role and scheme, not that will be looking for an expanded role in an offense as a leadback; Vereen fits that bill and if the price is right, could be someone the Giants target. There will be no shortage of suitors for Vereen, so he could potentially be someone that gets priced out of what the Giants are looking to spend.
