The Jets struck gold late in the first-round of the 2006 NFL Draft. After drafting offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson with the fourth overall pick, they would draft center Nick Mangold with the 29th overall pick. Although Ferguson has been with the Jets his entire career, Mangold has turned out to be the better of the two lineman.

After a great career at Ohio St., Mangold has become the anchor of the Jets’ offensive line since 2006. His greatest attribute may be his durability, as in nine seasons he has only missed three games.

Mangold has become a regular Pro Bowl selection from the center position, as he’s made it six times, representing the Jets in 2008-11, and 2013-14. With those six Pro Bowls, Mangold has also been first team All-Pro in 2009 and 2010.

As long as Mangold has been around the Jets have always had a good running game, and that has a lot to do with him as the center.
