The Islanders are back home after a lengthy seven-game road-trip that turned out to be a very successful one. In the first part of the road-trip in Canada the Islanders were able to split the four games, which just included one bad loss to the bottom-feeding Edmonton Oilers.

Upon returning to America, the Islanders would win a rivalry game against the New Jersey Devils in overtime thanks to a two-goal game from John Tavares. In the final two games of the road-trip the Islanders would have an easy win against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and then in the final game of the road-trip the Islanders would have a statement win against the New York Rangers with a 3-0 shutout victory.
