The option that could be the most likely for the Jets’ QB job in 2015 is the man who has been their starter for the better part of the last two seasons. Smith’s stats in his first two seasons have been pretty awful; despite having an 8-8 record as a rookie, Smith had 21 INT to just 12 TD passes. In both of his seasons with the Jets, Smith has not been given the best weapons to work with, and that has surely effected his development being thrown into the starting job right away.
In his career, Smith has 25 TD passes, 34 INT, 5,571 yards passing, and the strongest part of his game has been his running ability with 604 rushing yards in two season.
Like Mark Sanchez before him, Smith has had a lot of issues with turnovers, and that is something that can lead to a QB not playing very long. Could a coaching change possibly bring better fortunes for a Smith-led Jets offense?
