Steve Spagnuolo
Current Position: Baltimore Ravens’ Assistant Head Coach/Secondary Coach
Spagnuolo is a logical choice to replace Fewell, as he has experience being on Coughlin’s staff as a defensive coordinator, holding that spot in 2007 and 2008. He was the defensive coordinator for the Giants when they won their first Super Bowl under Coughlin, upsetting the New England Patriots and giving them their only loss of the season.
Spagnuolo has been with the Ravens for the past two seasons and will be a popular name amongst fans. They have seen the defense have success under him, and he is a familiar name to them and the team, so it is understandable that there are plenty of people, fans and personnel alike, that would like to see him back.
Speaking of personnel wanting him back, there are actually some rumblings that higher ups in the organization would like to have Spagnuolo back after he left and flopped as the head coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2009-2011.
No matter how much some people within the organization would like to have Spagnuolo back, there is no guarantee that he will be. Coughlin and the Giants will do their due diligence and consider other options. The Giants may also want to move forward in a new direction instead of going back in the past with an old name.
