2014 was certainly a year for Ryan McDonagh to remember, as he was an irreplaceable part for the Rangers’ defense in their Stanley Cup run, leading them in points in the postseason with 17, which included 13 assists.
After the postseason was over quite possibly the biggest news of the Rangers’ offseason was that McDonagh took over the captain’s spot after it was vacated when Ryan Callahan was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 2014-15 season has been a difficult one for the Rangers’ captain, as he has only played in 24 games, but when he is on the ice he has been effective with a +12 +/-.
