San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers job is very similar to the one Ryan just left, as a dominant defense is in place with an unproven, almost regressing quarterback with limited offensive weapons. Sounds just like the last six seasons in New York with the Jets. Ryan would keep the 49ers at an elite defensive level as they have a ton of talent on that side of the ball. Offensively, it would be a struggle again though, as Ryan doesn’t have a good track record at developing quarterbacks or offenses in general.

Would Ryan be able to get the most out of Colin Kaepernick and an underachieving unit? That is a fair question to ask, which makes the 49ers not as attractive of a job as it would seem, at least for Ryan. If he is able to identify someone that could develop the offense, much like John Fox has done with the Denver Broncos, it would make the 49ers instant contenders in the NFC once again. Of course it helps that Fox has Peyton Manning under center, which no one will mistake Kaepernick of being currently or maybe ever.
