The Jets seem to be ready to turn to an offensive minded coach to lead the team, as the offense was what always held them back during Ryan’s coaching tenure. It is not set in stone that an offensive minded coach will be hired, but it is definitely under consideration. If they are going to do that, there isn’t a better place to look than the Denver Broncos and Adam Gase.
This season the Broncos had the fourth most yardage and second most points scored, which is actually worse than the first season under Gase when they ranked first in both. When you have Peyton Manning under center and the weapons he has at his disposal you expect a high octane offense. Gase has showed he can adapt though, as the Broncos relied heavily on the run game down the stretch run of the season as Manning’s performance waned.
He will not be given the credit that he deserves because of Manning, but there has to be something there that he was the man picked by the Broncos to coordinate a Peyton Manning-led offense. If the Jets are going to give a younger, offensive minded person a shot, there aren’t many better options in the NFL currently that Gase.
