Bowles is currently the defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals, and actually signed a three-year extension with the Cardinals to continue to fill that role. That doesn’t tie him permanently to the Cardinals through 2017, when the contract extension expires. No, it just gives him a chance to be extremely selective about where he goes. The extension makes Bowles one of the highest paid assistants in the NFL, so moving up in payment as a head coach isn’t as appealing as it was at the start of the season.

Bowles would fit the same bill that Ryan did, as he is a great defensive mind. Bowles has coached the Cardinals to the fifth best scoring defense in the NFL this past season, even though they dealt with a number of injuries to important pieces to their unit. He uses an extremely aggressive style of defense, with plenty of blitzing, that players would love to be a part of.
