New York Mets: 5 Players That Could Be Shortstop In 2015

Cabrera is one of the shortstops that are available in what is shaping up to be an underwhelming free agent class. Cabrera is mostly remembered for his back-to-back All-Star appearances in 2011 and 2012 with the Cleveland Indians. Since then he has had trouble reaching those numbers, as his performance has dropped. Even so, he is someone the Mets could target.
He would be an offensive upgrade over Ruben Tejada, even with his drop in production the past two seasons. Also, as a free agent, he wouldn’t cost the Mets any of their assets in the farm system.
Cabrera would also enable the Mets to move Daniel Murphy, if they so wish to. Cabrera’s position flexibility could open the Mets up to continue to strengthen other holes on the roster.
