New York Jets Recap: Broncos Beat Jets 31 – 17
By Kyle Nuss
Well, the New York Jets made the game interesting.
On the Denver Broncos’ first play, Peyton Manning threw a 54 yard pass to Demaryius Thomas to set the Broncos deep in Jets territory. Following the long pass, the Jets’ defense was able to hold the Broncos to 8 yards, forcing the Broncos to kick a 37 yard field goal to take an early 3 – 0 lead.
Later in the quarter, on the 2nd offensive drive, Jets’ QB Geno Smith was able to compose a 53 yard drive for a touchdown. Jace Amaro with the two-yard touchdown catch to give the Jets 7 – 3 lead. The happy feelings from Jets fans wouldn’t last long.
Even though the Jets’ defense was able to hold the Broncos to zero points for the next three drives, a fumble from Walter Powell, and no offensive activity, kept the Broncos in the game.
The Broncos got their act together midway through the 2nd quarter, Manning threw two TD’s within 3 minutes. A one-yard pass to Demaryius Thomas to give the Broncos a 10 – 3 lead. Followed by a 22-yard pass to Julius Thomas for the 17 – 3 lead. The Broncos continued their ways in the 2nd half, Manning passed to J. Thomas for a 4-yard touchdown extending the lead to 24 – 7.
The 30 yard field goal from Folk which put the deficient to 24 – 10, must have awoken the Jets.
The Jets’ defense were able to stop the Broncos on the next drive. Which lead to the Jets getting the ball on their own 37 with 12:02 to go in the 4th quarter. Smith drove the ball down the field, throwing for 52 yards, including a 27-yard pass to Greg Salas, setting up the Jets in prime field position for a 2-yard touchdown throw to Eric Decker to pull the Jets back in the game.
The defense again was able to make a three and out for the Broncos on the next drive. The Jets failed to capitalized on their next drive, leading the Broncos to get the ball with 5:05 left, and then ran the clock down to 56 seconds.
Smith and the Jets got the ball back on their own 5 yard line but failed to do much on their last drive, ending on a Geno pick-6, ending the game. Jets lose 31 – 17.

One of the big reasons the Jets lost today, the offense failed to capitalize early on, keeping the Broncos in this game. Everyone knew Manning would eventually learn the defense and start throwing the ball down the field.
If there’s some good news to report today, he Jets only got two penalty’s for nine yards today.
The Jets got hosed at the end of the 2nd quarter. The pass from Smith to Eric Decker should have been a catch and got the Jets in field goal range.
