With a 3-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics on a rainy Sunday afternoon, the New York Mets completed their 10 game home stand. In grand ol’ Mets fashion, it was filled with drama.

On the home stand, the New York Mets took two of three from the Rockies, split a four game series vs the Cardinals, and won their series against the A’s two to one. New York finished the home stand 6-4, never losing a series.

There were walk-offs, little league home runs, multiple triple games, instant replays, and some signature Met moments.

Let’s recap the wild home stand for the Amazins.

The Mets opened the second half of the season at home with a stunning 14-2 route over the Rockies.

Jacob deGrom pitched a gem. With 19 hits, the Mets’ offense looked like a new team after the All-Star break.

The second game was not much different.

New York put on an offensive clinic again, routing the NL Wild Card leaders with a 9-3 victory.

The fireworks after the game were justified.

Jay Bruce hit a three-run bomb and Seth Lugo helped himself out, blasting a solo shot of his own.

The third game was a typical Sunday afternoon game at Citi Field.

The Mets were on the other end of a blowout. Steven Matz got rattled giving up 4 runs in the first inning.

Charlie Blackmon hit what is credited as an inside-the-park homer.

Nolan Arenado hit a home run over the fence as New York, yet again, failed to complete a series sweep at home.

The Mets then had four straight games vs the Cards.

New York dropped the 1st game 6-3 as Zach Wheeler continued to struggle.

Jose Reyes hit a somewhat comical “inside-the-park home run” as the Cardinals committed two errors on one play.

More from New York Mets

It proved to not be enough. St. Louis, backed by Adam Wainwright and two clean homers, were able to hang on for the win.

The next night, the Mets racked up their third straight loss. New York put up an abysmal three-hit performance in a 5-0 shutout.

The Cards’ Michael Wacha brought his best stuff to Flushing Meadows as nothing the Mets did was working,

The Mets’ three errors helped put the Cardinals in the run column and they would never look back.

The third game vs St. Louis helped the Mets break the slump and take back control of the home stand.

deGrom got the start but was not his typical spectacular self. Backed by a three-run 1st inning and a 13 hit, seven run performance, the New York offense had more than enough for the Mets to hold on for the 7-3 victory.

The final game vs the Cards was a rare Thursday afternoon home game at Citi Field.

Mets closer Addison Reed picked up his first win of the year. A Jose Reyes two-out single, due to a fielding blunder by the Cardinals in the bottom of the 9th inning, sent the Mets fans home happy.

The last three games of the home stand was a weekend series with the A’s. In a rematch of the 1973 World Series, the Mets showed a lot of never-say-die grit.

In the first game, New York scored five runs in the last three innings to get the W.

Two Michael Conforto bombs and a TJ Rivera little league home run highlighted this one.

Jerry Blevins proved yet again, why he is the silent assassin for this Mets’ bullpen. His five out save stopped the A’s from rallying back.

The second game of the series looked as if the A’s were going to lay the hammer down on New York on Noah Syndergaard bobble head night.

Yet-again struggling, Wheeler gave up four runs in the first inning. The Mets were eventually left to come back, down 5-0.

New York then continued the theme of the home stretch and kept on rallying.

In a night where Jose Reyes hit two triples, Jay Bruce also knocked his 25th homer of the year.

The highlight of the night was another two-out walk off.

After a pinch-hit game tying single by Lucas Duda in the 8th, Wilmer Flores came to the plate and smashed a two-out solo home run over the left field wall. The jam-packed, hostile Citi Field crowd was sent home happy.

In the third game, the Mets failed to have another come from behind victory as their flair for the dramatics fizzled out.

A solo shot from Conforto and a surprisingly decent start from Rafael Montero was not enough. The A’s blasted three solo shots en route to a victory.

The Mets would finish the home stand with a 6-4 record (which includes two Sunday losses) but showed a lot of heart.

A winning home stand from a team that has not shown the fans a lot of promise this year was nice to see.

The Mets now head out to San Diego as they prepare for ten straight away from Citi Field.
