New York Yankees starter Luis Severino tossed eight scoreless innings against the Royals. His surging dominance could be key the rest of 2017.

New York Yankees young gun Luis Severino is finding his footing in the 2017 season.

The Yankees are dominating the AL East so far this season, but one question is always their pitching staff. With Severino’s recent dominance, it provides solid footing for the Yankees staff moving forward.

Severino is blossoming right when the Yankees need him to. The last two years have been a waiting game for the Bombers with Severino, but he’s finally starting to hit stride.

There was a lot of hype surrounding Severino when he first hit the big leagues, and now he’s turned that hype into truth. Severino has been nothing short of spectacular in his last few outings, and it’s exactly what the Yanks need.

Watching a starter consistently clock in at 98 mph is something we haven’t seen since CC Sabathia in his prime. It’s just silly dominance, and it’s fun to watch.

Severino is just setting a precedent. There is a line of young dominant pitching coming up, and he is just the first.

With guys like Justus Sheffield and James Kaprielian set to make their debuts in the coming seasons, the Yanks are synonymous with power.

Severino is soon to be the ace of this staff when Masahiro Tanaka hits the backend of his career. Sprinklin in guys like Sheffield, Kaprielian, and even Jordan Montgomery, oh boy are New York Yankees fans in for a treat.

Severino finding dominance now is sooner than some might have expected, but regardless, it’s huge. If he can continue this trend, and pair it with the young lineup the Yankees have, the AL East could be a runaway for a few years coming.
