Recent New York Knicks rumors have emerged about some teams being interested in Derrick Rose.

As the offseason gets closer, there are more and more Knicks rumors starting to circulate. After the disaster that was the 2016-17 season, the Knicks are trying to rebound with a strong offseason.

Last season, expectations were high in New York. After landing some big names, many thought the Knicks would be a playoff contender last season. After a good start to the season, things fell apart for the Knicks and they ended up with the 8th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

This offseason, one of the biggest questions for the Knicks is what will happen with point guard Derrick Rose. In his first season with the Knicks, Rose did have a slight meniscus tear at the end of the season. However, he played well on the offensive end of the court for the Knicks. While he showed some explosiveness on offense, he was pretty poor defensively.

As a free agent this offseason, the Knicks have kept the door open to re-signing Rose. However, there are other teams that are interested according to Ian Begley of ESPN.com.

According to Begley, both the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs have some interest in Rose. Seeing the Timberwolves express interest in Rose isn’t too surprising. The Knicks and Wolves tried to work out a deal at the deadline that was centered around Rose and Rubio.

After seeing Tony Parker go down in the playoffs, the Spurs might be looking for a new point guard next season, and Rose could certainly be an option. As a player that has made a lot of money already, Rose might consider taking a cut to try and win an NBA title in San Antonio.

Even though there are other teams interested in Rose, the Knicks can’t be ruled out. Rose was certainly an upgrade for them at the point guard position last season compared to in year’s past. However, his struggles on defense and another knee surgery might scare the Knicks off from committing to him.
