The New York Jets will be on the clock early once again in the second round. Who is a perfect fit for them?

After a wild first round, the New York Jets came out of the first round of the NFL Draft as one of the big winners. Similarly to when Leonard Williams fell into their laps a few years ago, the same thing happened this year with safety Jamal Adams.

Due to the Chicago Bears taking Mitchell Trubisky, the Jaguars taking Leonard Fournette, and the Titans taking Corey Davis, the Jets ended up with one of the best defensive players in the draft.

With plenty of needs heading into the draft, the Jets certainly addressed one of them by selecting Adams. Now, the Jets will be attempting to continue their 2017 Draft with more smart choices.

Due to this being a deep draft and teams making reaches on quarterbacks, the Jets are in a position to take a talented player in the second round. Most notably, Dalvin Cook, Cam Robinson, Forrest Lamp, and Marcus Maye are still available.

In Steve Muench’s recent article for ESPN, he has the Jets selecting cornerback Kevin King from Washington with their second round pick. Here’s what Muench had to say about the pick.

"The Jets signed former Cowboy Morris Claiborne to a one-year deal after cutting Darrelle Revis, which means they still need to address this position. King has the length, fluidity and top-end speed to excel in defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers’ press-man-heavy scheme."

Adding King to the secondary would certainly be a good move for the Jets. In addition to safety being a weakness, the cornerback position was also a problem area for the Jets.

While New York did add Morris Claiborne in the offseason, he is coming off of an injury and has been ineffective prior to his strong season last year. Drafting King would give the Jets two talented building blocks in the secondary, and they should help improve one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL.
