The New York Yankees moved into the top-10 of ESPN’s MLB Power Rankings off an undefeated Week 2.

The New York Yankees are on absolute fire heading into the third week of the MLB Season. There were mixed reviews on the Yankees heading into the regular season. The goal is clear in the Bronx; they have an eye towards the future but are going to compete for the time being.

The Yankees are doing more than just competing right now, they are dominating. After a 2-4 opening week, the Yankees responded in a big way once they returned home. The Yankees come into the third week of the season riding a seven-game winning streak, which includes a 6-0 start at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees swept the Tampa Bay Rays in the first series of the season at Yankee Stadium. They followed it up with another sweep, this time taking out the St. Louis Cardinals. The Yankees pitching has been excellent during the winning streak, as the most runs they gave up in a game was four; they have surrendered less than that in the other games.

As a result, the Yankees have shot up ESPN’s MLB Power Rankings. After Week 1, the Yankees were ranked 22nd. After Week 2, the Yankees have moved all the way up to 10th. Here is what they had to say about the Yankees move up the power rankings.

"CC Sabathia has a 1.47 ERA through his first three starts, capped by a 7⅓-inning, one-earned-run performance against the Cardinals on Saturday. That’s his best through his first three starts since 2011, when he posted a 1.45 ERA and finished up at 3.00, his second-lowest full-season ERA. He finished fourth in AL Cy Young voting that year but hasn’t received votes in any season since. — Sarah Langs, ESPN Stats & Information"

Sabathia has been excellent thus far for the Yankees, carrying the load as the ace while Masahiro Tanaka figures things out. The bullpen has been outstanding as well and the offense is getting production up and down the roster.

Four guys are hitting over .300 for the Yankees, with Chase Headley leading the way. Aaron Judge has showcased his power, which is for real. Ronald Torreyes has 10 RBI thus far on the season. Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury have been running atop the lineup with five and four steals respectively.
