The Brooklyn Nets will be resting six players against the Chicago Bulls in their season finale Wednesday night.

The Brooklyn Nets are going to upset a lot of people on Wednesday night. The Nets are wrapping up their season on the road against the Chicago Bulls. With nothing to play for, as they already guaranteed themselves the worst record in the NBA, the Nets will be doing what they have been doing all season; benching some players.

Except, this time it can have a huge impact on the rest of the league. The Nets have been benching players all season with a long-term outlook on players health. So it should come as no surprise that the Nets are doing that the final game of the season.

But this time, the Nets are taking the resting to another level. None of their veterans will be playing, as Jeremy Lin, Brook Lopez, and Trevor Booker will all sit out for rest. Three players will be out because of injury; Sean Kilpatrick with a hamstring, Quincy Acy with an ankle injury and Joe Harris with a shoulder injury.

This decision will leave a lot of people disappointed. While the Nets have nothing to lose, the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat have a lot to play for. They need wins and or some help to get into the postseason.

The Pacers can clinch a playoff spot with a victory over the Atlanta Hawks. The Miami Heat need a victory over the Washington Wizards and a loss from the Pacers. There is another team that is in the mix for the Eastern Conference playoffs; the Bulls.

The Bulls need a victory against the Nets and they will also qualify for the playoffs. They have to be happy with the Nets decision to rest arguably their three best players. It is not something that will sit well with the Pacers or Heat, who would really benefit from a Bulls loss on the final day of the season.

While the Nets have been doing this all season, this should not be allowed. Unless a player is resting for the postseason, or legitimately hurt, they should be playing in the season finale. The fans want to see the best players on the court and a team’s season should not potentially be ruined in this fashion.

Yes, the Pacers or Heat could have handled their business earlier in the season by winning a few more games. But, they should not receive the short end of the stick in this fashion either as the Bulls are essentially being handed a victory from the Nets.
